In the campaign, the Bees are the faction with all the buildings. They have some interesting weapons and are notable for being fast and maneuverable.
Once a player has killed 1000P worth of Bee ships, the faction will be unlocked and they can start a new game as a Bee.
Blocks
Bee blocks are very similar to Terran blocks. They have a good variety of shapes. The one notable thing would be that the long triangles are different, and offer a different angle than the Terran ones. Bee command modules also produce tons of energy, which means they rarely need generators except for resource storage.
Armor/Shields
The Heavy Armor is heavy and more durable, and the Light Armor is less lighter and has less hit-points. The Bees also have one size of shield.
Thrusters
The best thing about the Bees are their thrusters. The Manueuvering Thrusters have boost thrust, which means they get additional thrust for a limited time when activated. If you cap the regular thrusters with a Maneuvering Thruster, they all get the boost effect. This makes the Bees the fastest faction in the game.
Cannons
The Bee’s guns are weak. The PD weapons are short-range and don’t do much damage. Best used for taking-out very small ships.
Shard Launchers
Shards are mines that shoot-out with a spin. They deal good damage, and use no energy. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to shoot things with them.
Drones
Drones are the Bees’ long-range weapon. The have little lasers the do great damage, and are extremely effective in a swarm. The drones do struggle however, when faced with enemies that have good point-defense.
Anchor Drones
Anchor Drones are unique to the Bees. They do a little damage, but their main purpose is to immobilize an enemy. If the Bees weren’t fast enough, this makes them even faster.
Doom Beams
Doom Beams are fixed laser-weapons that do huge damage at short-range. They are extremely efficient for the cost, making them the best close-range weapon outside of the Sentinel Armor Spikes. A ship using lots of Doom Beams can cut right through enemies.
Bee Tricks
Use Generators on your factory ships. Like the Crystalline, the Bees use generators for resource storage. You’ll need them on factory ships to make other large ships.
Buildings: Bees are the only faction that can make buildings. You have Root blocks that attach the building design to asteroids. Keep building blueprints in your inventory and when you enter new territory, the game will generate the region with your designs.
- On the Root blocks, the small node goes on the asteroid.
- You cannot make buildings attach to asteroids. That only happens when the game generates a new region. – Keep building designs in your Fleet Inventory. When you wander into a new region, it will automatically populate with your designs.
- Keep at least one building design with a factory on it.
- You don’t pay for buildings, so you can deck them out with as many weapons as you want.
- Don’t put any thrusters on your building designs, otherwise the game will treat them as ships.
Subcommand: You can build your own buildings and bases with the big command module, but you have to use the Sandbox. Build them in the Sandbox, export them, then import them into you Fleet Inventory. The designs will be locked, but the game will still use building to populate sectors and bases to spawn on base-points.
Tactics
The Bees are unique in that they don’t have viable guns.
Use fleet tactics with a large swarm to tackle Agents. If Agents have good point-defense, use giant, armored blocker ships to distract them and get your swarm to bear. You can also draw Agents to regions where you have weaponized buildings and bases to help out with a fight.
The Bees can be a valuable source of resources. The Subcommand modules in the buildings generate resources, thus you can clear out a region of buildings an raid all of the R.
